In preparation for the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026 on September 2–4, 2026, in the City of Dasmariñas, an intensive On-site Training for all designated campus journalists and school paper advisers will be conducted on August 26–31, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Banyuhay ng Kasaysayan (Audio-Visual Room if available), Music Room, Creative Writing Room (Bldg 3, Rm. 306), school library, and/or any available classrooms. (Refer to the attached schedule.)

Directives on Academic Considerations for Missed Activities

To ensure that student-delegates can focus on their training and representation of the school without compromising their academic standing, all teaching personnel are requested to implement the following accommodations:

  • Excused Absences: Tag participating journalists as official excused absences from August 26–27 (training) and September 2–4 (DSPC competition proper).
  • Make-Up Tasks & Quizzes: Grant reasonable extensions and schedule special make-up dates for any missed quizzes, long exams, performance tasks, or daily recitations.
  • Flexible Deadlines for Group Work: Provide alternative individual requirements or adjust submission deadlines for group activities affected by the students’ absence.
  • No Penalty Policy: Ensure that no academic point deductions or grade penalties are imposed on students for missing regular class hours due to school-sanctioned press activities.
  • Learning Materials Access: Subject teachers are encouraged to share lecture notes, modules, or asynchronous task details beforehand so students can review at their own pace.
  • Substitute Teachers for Journalism Coaches: Grade Level Coordinators are encouraged to support the teachers involved in the preparation of DSPC 2026 by providing substitute teachers who will oversee their classes while the intensive training and contest proper occur, respectively, starting August 25 to September 4.

General Reminders for Participants

  • Equipment: Bring personal laptops, digital cameras, extension cords, art supplies, and reference materials specific to your category.
  • Attendance: Strict attendance and punctuality are required throughout the three-day campus journalism training.
